My life looked perfect.
For more than 30 years I’ve been a successful, sought after management consultant and executive coach, flourishing both professionally and personally, married to an equally successful professional, with whom I have two healthy, grown sons.
That was the bright side of my achievements and accomplishments.
Still, I struggled with a shadow side, a shadow that surfaced as an almost intractable eating problem. Since my childhood, I have dealt with a food addiction, one that had me weighing 300 pounds, literally eating out of the garbage at my lowest moment, and seeking solutions in everything from weight loss surgeries and every diet you could name to individual therapists, self-help recovery and spiritual programs. How ironic that despite my ability to work with a client, or team of people, and easily identify the issues that kept them from succeeding, I had a blind side when it came to my own overwhelming problem.

There was no magic bullet, no single solution, much as I sought one. What I learned, sometimes painfully and frustratingly slowly, was that I couldn’t give up—and I never did.
I struggled. But I survived. I succeeded. I transformed. And so can you.
Never give up.
