Welcome to my world!
Today is a hugely thrilling occasion for me. I’m so excited to debut my memoir, The Goodbye Cookie, and to invite you to explore my new website. It took me five years to complete TGC: one year to write it and four to rewrite it! This last year also has been consumed with expanding my consulting business, related to topics addressed in the book, so all of it is coming to fruition here with you as my audience is extra exciting. Thanks to my dear friends and colleagues for their support, and to my new community, Hello! I can’t wait for us to get to know each other better!
For the last 27 years, I have been the proud owner of MCM Management Consultants, my training and coaching company focused on leadership and communication skills. I can say with confidence that in order to be the most effective manager or communicator, it’s vital to truly know yourself; I have offered thousands of people powerful tools for self-knowledge and career development and I’ll continue this rewarding work as I expand my reach to offer other services to my clients.
Since writing this book and becoming certified as a life coach and licensed mental health counselor, I felt confident that I could contribute more and spur clients on to learn more about themselves, specifically on sensitive topics such as weight, body image, self-esteem, fear of rejection, and feelings of not being “good enough.”
I personally have struggled with all of these issues; today, I am joyous that most of the time, I am free from the bondage of my binge eating disorder and the self-loathing that accompanied it. And on those other days, the ones that still trip me up, I now have tools and skills to get me back on track. Simply put, I used to get “stuck” when I got too deeply involved with food and but now I’ve learned how to pull myself out of that proverbial hole.
This website includes all of my work in the personal and professional arenas: the book, the leadership and communication programs, and the new topics on personal growth and development. OMG, can you tell that I’m so excited?!!!
It has been a long journey to get to this point where I feel jubilant about the present, excited about the future, and peaceful about the past. Had I not encountered every difficulty along the way, had I not tried a zillion diets that came my way with the hope that “this one” was “the ONE,” or had I not experienced every bottom-of-the-barrel, new low in binge eating, I would not have gotten to this point today. And I love this moment. I am filled with gratitude and love and this is why I’m here today, wanting to share it with you.
If I can be healthy in body, mind, heart, and spirit; if I can lose half my body weight and keep it off; if I can give and receive love without feeling guilty, shameful, or unworthy…then so can you. No doubt you will need to find your own path, as I had to find mine, but I’m here to offer my story, my care and even some practical tools and techniques.
SO, here’s lesson #1: no matter what your addiction or affliction… no matter how many times you have tried and failed…no matter how stuck you feel…don’t give up. I never give up. Neither should you…
Thanks so much,
